INTRODUCTION
The Organization
The Monument to Women Veterans, Inc. (MWV) advocates for female veterans through the establishment of a national monument recognizing the service and sacrifices of all women who have proudly donned a United States armed services uniform. It further seeks to provide resources and services for a myriad of issues currently impacting Women Veterans to include PTSD/MTBI, sexual assault, sexual harassment, unemployment, homelessness and countless others that may arise in the future.

Ultimately, the Monument to Women’s Veterans will serve as a gateway to specialized services available to female Veterans throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast. Women Veterans are encouraged to visit and enjoy the sense of community with fellow female patriots from across the United States.

The Monument to Women Veterans, Inc. was incorporated in 2011 to pursue the development of a monument that would honor the women who have served their country and provide often unmet critical resources for female Veteran care.

On November 8, 2011, having determined there is a significant and continuing DoD interest in promoting awareness of the issues faced by women veterans and the services that are available to assist them, the United States Department of Defense issued the appointment of LTC Eurdyce S Stanley as Liaison to the Monument to Women Veterans Foundation.

The Monument
World-renowned sculptor Elizabeth MacQueen has been selected to design, create and oversee installation of our first monument to woman veterans. And, to accommodate the magnitude of this project, the artist has relocated her studio to Pensacola, Florida to be near the heart of the largest per capita military population in the country.

Already in its initial design phase, the monument will reach up to 30 ft. in height with flames, water, a laser beam and figures of servicewomen (scaled to one-and-a-half times life-size) located around an elliptical bronze and stainless masterpiece that will tell the history, both literally and figuratively, of women in service. It will capture women in uniform serving in their many capacities as they have risen to the challenge, despite many adversities, to serve their country.

Female Korean War Veteran, Barbara Regan, has donated property on Bayfront Drive in Pensacola, FL to be the site for the Monument to Women Veterans and a groundbreaking ceremony was held there in November, 2011.

Funding
The Monument to Women Veterans, Inc. was established as a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable, historical and educational organization. Expenses for The Monument to Women Veterans, to include site preparation and upkeep, are funded primarily by private contributions. Contributions are accepted in honor or memory of a female Veteran as a cherished remembrance for their service.
